The Y at Kwantlen Polytechnic University
Ages 10 to 18
You’ve got influence– why not use it for some good? Youth Leadership Development (YLD) helps you get to know yourself better, become a skilled leader and interact with a variety of people. Plus, you’ll make friends for life and have fun. Activities include team building, social events, volunteer opportunities, fundraising, training, and special events. At the end of the day this is a program focused on building the potential of young people so that they have the skills to positively impact the community.
The program is open to young people ages 10-18 throughout the school year from September to June. Two-hour weekly sessions are offered at locations throughout the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Sunshine Coast.
Participants have the chance to develop leadership skills in topics ranging from truth and reconciliation, employment, equality, health and wellness, and innovation. We will explore ways to utilize these skills in order to help make our communities a more inclusive, responsible, reliable, and cooperative environment all while having fun.
Participation cost is $24/month for non-members and it's free for YMCA Members.
