YMCA Mental Wellness Programs are an area of continued growth within the YMCA of Greater Vancouver. Programs include: the Youth Mindfulness Group, Youth Mind Medicine, Teen Mindfulness Group, Teen Mind Medicine, and Mind Fit – all of which have been scaled up for delivery across BC. The Mental Wellness Program area requires special attention to partnership development, funding opportunities, impact evaluation, and operational sustainability.
 
Nature and Scope:
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Partnerships the Manager will work collaboratively with YGV staff and staff from the four YMCA’s in BC, and community partners both locally and provincially. The Manager is responsible for leading a team of 6-8 YGV staff (two full-time direct reports and 4-6 part-time indirect reports) and overseeing program operations at YGV facilities including marketing and recruitment strategy, hiring, supervision and performance management, program administration, risk management, program reports, and budgeting and financial management. The Manager may be required to provide direct program delivery from time-to-time.  
 
The Manager provides support and leadership to the four Regional YMCA’s in BC for program delivery of all programs including providing program training for new community partnership sites across BC.
 
Major Responsibilities:

• Ensure fiscal responsibility through planning and administering mental wellness programs annual operating budgets. This includes assessing variances, forecasting and making recommendations to address current and future expenditures
• Provide leadership and guidance for the Mental Wellness branch (two full time and several part time staff); responsible for overseeing all operations of mental wellness programs and ensuring high quality program delivery
• Identifying community partnership sites for extending the reach of all programs both locally and provincially
• Complies with complete HR process including recruitment, orientation, development and discipline for mental wellness department staff; Ensure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures
• In collaboration with the Director, Strategic Partnerships, provides support and leadership to regional YMCA’s for the provincial delivery of all programs including supporting specific components of the as necessary, such as: providing clinical/technical expertise for program delivery and developing/adapting program curriculum to maintain best practice
• Relationship development with key community stakeholders in order to facilitate the growth and reach of mental wellness programming    
• Evaluation framework to measure the impact of mental wellness programs; reporting to funders including government and private donors
• Maintain an atmosphere of achievement that inspires self and others to succeed at the highest levels
• Provide oversight to the branch fundraising goal                                                                               
• Collaborate with local collaboratives such as the Vancouver and Surrey Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Collaboratives
• Periodic reporting and invoicing to Funder
• Oversight of development of marketing, promotions and outreach plan to recruit target numbers of participants
• Other duties as required

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in mental health field (e.g. Counselling, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, etc.)
• Minimum two years management experience including staff supervision and financial management
• Minimum three years experience working with teens and young adults experiencing mild-moderate symptoms of anxiety and/or depression
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining community partnerships and relationships
• Experience developing and facilitating coping skills and psychoeducation workshops
• Excellent administration skills and organizational skills
• Computer proficient – Microsoft Office
• Ability to work some evenings, weekends and flexible schedule, as required
• Valid BC Drivers License and access to a vehicle
• Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date and provide 3 professional references
